I Couldn’t Think of a Title Better than Genderchella, That’s Amazing

Producers of the show Genderchella, two sitting on a swing, all three smiling, looking to the sky, holding hands. The person standing is holding an acoustic guitar.

Let’s get a round of applause for the name Genderchella. It’s just too clef-er, how could I possibly beat that? (I did look up musical puns for some of these. I hope that doesn’t get me in any treble!)

Genderchella is a mini music festival, featuring trans and queer musicians who will be gracing us with their original music. Some of this music will be comedic, some will be serious. All of it will make you cry!” This music festival has something for everyone to enjoy; it’s sure to strike a chord!

Bassically, Dahlya, Marnina, and Micah (also known as Couplet) have been harmonic friends for over a decade and wanted to create a concert where queer and trans musicians can show off their talents, whether it be comedic or serious. “Obviously, music is a huge communal superpower, and we think the balanced avenues of comedy and heartfelt music will bring a lot of joy and catharsis to our community.” Music thrums at our heartstrings and pulls us together, even if we march to the beat of different rhythms. When asked about the best thing about being trans, Dahlya Glick answered “that by showing up as your authentic self, you welcome others to show up as themselves. And the safer we feel to be ourselves, the nicer we are to people! Also being hot and cool.Genderchella is acting as a bridge, a chorus adding to musical and trans hisstory. (That one’s a pun and a half!)

The producers of Genderchella recommend their show for people who enjoy:

  • the sensitive stylings of Fin Argus' indie rock music in the vein of Phoebe Bridgers,

  • campy recreations of iconic dance moments of pop culture like Hilary Duff's With Love

  • fans of Flight of the Conchords

  • fans of Tegan and Sara

  • the ghost of John Mayer

    • (even though he's alive)

and, drum roll, please, the producer’s very own musical stylings! Such as:

  • Couplet’s original folk comedy songs

and

  • Dahlya's sad boi singer-songwriter character, Kyler

Instrumental to the show, be sure to give the brave performers a standing ovation!

Tune in to Genderchella at the Hudson Theater on Saturday, April 4, 2026, showtime 9:30 pm. Tickets available at https://joywholived.com/events/genderchella-your-gnc-mini-music-festival
